Projected Budget

Here is the projected budget for my documentary. I have save £687.50 from a £5000 budget which will be used for a back up fund if i need to edit for another half day i can take the money out of that. All together with this play i have 2 days to film and 1 camera man on one day.

Proposal

AIM 

the aim for my documentary is to show awareness on gaming addiction's, However im not saying that there is a gaming addiction i just want to show young adults how you get addicted to games within their eduction. As a gamer my self i feel as if this is a genre that is blamed on the most if a person fails exams or coursework when this is not the fact as it the persons fault for not putting more time and effort in. I want to discover what type of games people get addicted to, How go full time gamers not get addicted to gaming after playing the game daily. The main reason i have chosen this topic is because i want to inform young adults gaming can be good and bad for you and the brain.

CONTENT

The main content in the documentary will off course be the interviews because i want to interview full time gamers, Doctors, Socialolgyist and young adults near exam time questing them how they split up time to still revise and still have time to play games. At the start of the documentary i will first talk about the aims of the documentary and then give some facts and statistics to prove if they are right and wrong in during the documentary after i have spoken about general facts i will then move on to the experiment seeing if a young adult can game for 24 hours with out going out side and then going on the same game the next day for a long period of time. After we see the result of the experiment and depending on how bad they are i will then show footage to doctors and socialolgyist  and see there reactions. to end it all of i will have graphics to what was proven and what wants and conclude the documentary of.

TARGET AUDIENCE 

My target audience has already been set out from me in the brief. The target audience is between 16 and 24 years old. I have decided to pick this topic because many to the education aspect of gaming how people say its bad its more about proving that it can be as normal as sports like football. This topic for for the documentary in my opinion is very appealing to the target audience because alot of people in this age group is in education still and sometime still play games when they can. However some facts and people believe gaming is bad for people and cause them to make changes on there lives. 

FORMAT

This documentary will mostly be a interactive documentary because i want it to interact with he views, i want them to think that's what i do on a Sunday evening and i want them to notice the effects gaming has on there lives them self instead of getting help im not saying all the people watching have a addiction to gaming but they should have some awareness. I would also you participation as one of my forms because i will be in the documentary and base around my life style with school, home work and playing games 

GENRE

The genre i have selected for he documentary is more in favour with educational documentary because i want to inform people about gaming addictions and show how it starts and ends. The main reason i have decided to have a educational genre is have the fact to inform and show awareness to thers my age bout gaiming education near serious important times such as exams 

STYLE

During my documentary there will graphics for example in interviews graphics come on the screen saying their name and job title to seem less formal because f the time the documentary will be broadcasted. The editing will be quick and snappy because its mostly revolved around facts and about proving them so i want as much time to prove if they are right or wrong. Camera shot will mostly be mid shots but a long and close up in the experiment showing how the test subject changes during the day and night.

My first program i am  looking at for being similar to my documentary idea is Russell Brand from Addiction to Recovery. In my own opinion i think that the  documentary  target  audience  is  meant  for  young adults from the ages of 16-24 as they have been proven to be addicted to drugs more than any other age group. The program was aired on BBC3 as a lot of young adult watch BBC3 for the number of different shows. The show was aired at a prime time where the viewing numbers is at its high every day at 9:00- 10:00 in the evening. Before playing the show the narrator that introduces the show’s said "one time special". Russell Brand from Addiction to Recovery is a factual documentary with self-involvement in it to show his emotions about the topic at hand and to help others notice that drugs are bad for the body and mind. The ratings for the documentary wasn't as high as other documentary because it’s not a topic that people would care about from how one man gave up his drug addiction for his career even thought the topic isn't spoken about from much people Russell Brand wanted to help and show people that it can be done bringing in 500,00+ viewing statistic

The Comparison:

This documentary is very similar to my documentary because he is talking about his addiction for drugs however i will be talking about addiction towards gaming and the specific genre that gets people hooked to the game. This documentary is also my competition because of the channel it was aired on and the topic in general. This documentary is about addiction to drugs like I said before however because my documentary topic is about gaming this is my composition because of the addiction elements to the topic because the main reason is to show awareness to people about the addiction and how to tidy your act up if you have an addiction 

The second program i will be looking at is obsessive cleaning disorders. This show is one of my competitors but not as similar to the first Drug addiction one however they do have some of the same aspects such as the addiction toward making your house spotless. i have chosen this documentary as one of my main competitors because of the elements of the show they show a before and after of the house one its "dirty" in their mind and when its clean for others. the viewing stats for the show places in as channels four top 10 one of the most popular shows broadcaster getting over 1 million views for one episode per week

My Comparison

This show is a lot like mine because they talk about a cleaning addiction where people tidy there house up when it’s already tidy. The show it’s self comes on around 9:00 in the evening and attracts people with an interest on how people live with an addiction. i have chosen this documentary because they style of the documentary is personal involvement where the presenters try and help the people who like to keep cleaning because they have and addiction where if they see and anything out of place they have to mend it 

My third competitor is the Gadget Show this show gets about 50,000+ views because of the updates in technology that keeps changing every week. Every episode is different from the other they may not even talk about tech they may talk about games this is why this is my final competitor because of the element of surprise. The show is aired at 8:00 on Monday evenings coming on once a week however it is repeated on Sunday at 8:00 in the morning. This show is not a documentary but is a factual TV show. This is one of the reasons why i have picked this show as a competitor because how present the fact with point quote and evidence to prove to the audience

My Comparison

This show is a lot like my documentary topic because in generational they both fall under the upcoming tech categories. However the main reason this show would be similar to mine is the amount of involvement with in the show for example when they do the experiment it’s usually a test to see show the tech or the games deals with the pressure and the consumers. The show its self is aimed to around 16-24 year old the same as the brief because i think personal that is the age range where people are more involved with technology

This link is about addiction and what it is because my main topic is about addiction for gaming I through t I could use a question that would first explain the meaning for addiction and how you can tell if some has got an addiction.

"People may spend hours each day and night surfing the internet or playing games while neglecting other aspects of their lives" for this question i am basing my answers on this quote from the NHS.

for example if i ask a gamer and ask them to describe their daily routine with a computer, if the results are similar to the t quote i can then go on to another question asking them how do games make people addicted to them after a while.

I want to ask what is addiction because I personally would like to find out as i do play games for a long period of times when it’s the holidays however when its school days i don't really play games.

Because i want to find this out it can all tie in to the same question but as a sub heading because i don't want to lose focuses to the main question.

I will be using this question to set a foundation to the documentary because the main aspect is to find out what an addiction is and then find out more about gaming addiction

This question is going to follow up the experiment as the test subject will be staying up for a number of nights playing MMO and MOBA genre games. This question is the conclusion to the documentary in forming ways that you can beat a gaming addiction or any other addiction "Time yourself, read a walkthrough of the game, Find some cheats, look around: are friends real or virtual?, start playing games with your friends and not alone" these are the points that i would like to put out for overcoming a gaming addiction as i feel myself they have and the necessary point for example "find some cheats" if you find some cheats for a game that you have already completed you would then get very bored and stop playing the game and then to fill that time you can go out or do anything active away from the computer 

This question will be the final question and will be the outro to the whole documentary; this question is to tell people how to how they can see an addiction in people and how they can overcome the addiction all together with or without any help

Focus Group

 This video idea was about how gaming effects the mind and how people get addicted to gaming. The general feedback I have gotten from the idea is making me pursue the idea compared to the other ideas because the feedback suggest that it would be a captivating subject to talk about as nearly everyone plays some sort of game in their life time. The feedback was mainly suggesting how I can improve the way I would give the audience. Also the main feedback was a lot about the experiment like how I would keep the health and wear being in tack during the experiment

 The second Idea didn’t really go as well as the first one because it seemed like a topic that was interested but was not visited enough to make it appealing. However the feedback that I had got was really good because the topic was hard to talk about it would have more facts and figures to make it interested and aimed at the higher target audience

 The third idea was my last one and was about self-healing vs. medical treatment out of all the feedbacks given this one had the most positive results because it seemed like a topic that was interesting and people would watch because everyone has had medical treatment latest once in their life time however the feedback did have some negatives for example finding an interview with someone who believes in self-healing is very rare

Ideas For My Documentary

Nicholls Modes of Documentry

Nicholls have five different modes for making a documentary. The five different modes are Expository, Observational, Interactive, Reflective and Performative. These are the five different mode all the mode mean a complete different style of documentary. Expository documentary is often known as the voice of God this means that the presenter is guiding the audience through the documentary with a voice over however the presenter is just a voice over and not a figure in the documentary. An observational documentary is when the producers do not interfere with what is going on in the frame. Most of the time the documentary would not be edited unless they have stake out where they observe a animal for a long period of time. Observational documentary are mostly used for wildlife ones. An interactive documentary is when the presenter is when the presenter is involved in the documentary for example there in the shots and they have a connection towards the story. Reflective is when the producers centre a reconstruction on the documentary. Performative documentary is when the documentary is all about the presenter and how they are in real life.

Performative:

A good example of Performative documentary is catfish. This documentary is about how a man met a woman online and started to have feelings for her however the women was a completely different women in real life. She made a fake Facebook profile to talk to him. In the documentary it shows Nev's point of view to what had happened. This documentary is a Performative one because the presenter in the main character in the documentary. At 2:15 the man behind the camera asked Nev he wants to make a documentary about him and Abby so more or less he’s asking him for him permission.

Within the documentary there are question asked to the main presenter which in this case is nev however the questions usually asked is how do you feel they asked him before and after once he got the truth

Reflective

Reflective documentary is where the presenter does not need to be present because it all about how the documentary's being presented to the audience. However there can be voice overs if there is presenter. This type of documentary is usually made to reconstruct the truth from the past. Into Abyss is a good example of a reflective documentary because its aim is to show how death row is. Because the documentary type is reflective they focus on one thing from the past to provide facts and actuality footage at 14:08 they show actuality footage of blood across the floor as if someone was dragged across. In this case the documentary does have a presenter but the presenter is never shown but he does ask the questions in the interview at 1:48. Instead of the presenter taking us any camera time they decided to focus on the main story line so that people would know the truth about a wrong convection that was taken place in America. To show realism in the documentary when they have a interview in a prison the inmate is behind a change but is blurred because the focus in on the person this provides further emotions towards the inmate as he had a life sentence to death at 57:58

Interactive

An interactive documentary is when the presenter is the focus of the documentary. This can be shown in different ways one way is where the presenter will be doing an experiment that would be the topic of the documentary for example Super-size me is a very good example of interactive documentary because the presenter himself is the focus of the documentary because he’s trying to find out if you eat McDonald for 1 month what would happen to your body. He first started of by introducing the experiment and then doing in to facts but then the actual experiment started. To have this as an interactive Experiment documentary he first had to take health test so that he is focused on the task at 10:00. At 39:16 they show a close up of the food to show the amount of oil is used to get the nugget looking right he then explained how they made it and then decided to provide the audience with some more facts. During the documentary you could say that the presenter is one with the film because he wanted to get his point across and provide real facts that he calculated that the company try to hide.

Observational

Observational documentary is when the presenter or directs don't get involved with what's being filmed they provide a voice over to explain what's happening but they don't change anything that is getting film also it is not scripted but there is little editing to put the cuts all together in one. A good example of this is a wild life documentary because they want to show him audience how animals behave and how they act with others. For example March of the penguins they had planted a hidden camera to capture the penguin’s movements and then at 0:28 the presenter provides a voice over to say that the family is together again. Most shots in this documentary is close ups because they really want to focuses on the set peace they are talking about. At 1:45 whenever something new and weird had happen the presenter would comminute over explain what was going on

Factual TV Rules for Beginners

Accuracy Definition:  Accuracy means how clearly the presenter presents facts to the audience. This means accuracy is not opinions its pure facts with evidence to prove the fact is real also it is how the presenter communicates to the audience whilst saying the fact if it’s hard to understand or easy to understand. A good example to accuracy is any nature documentary because they first do a voice over about the animal providing the audience with facts and then video footage of the animal doing what was said in the fact.

Cheetahs Play Football - Deadly 60 - Series 3 - BBC

This is a good example of accuracy because of the fact that he give the audience correct facts about the body of the cheetah and proves the facts by giving evidence. At 0.26 he starts to talk about the cheetah's feet and show the camera the feet to prove what he is saying is correct and not a opinion and he could still show a fact. However at 0:45 there is a close up of the cheetah's claws as the presenter then references how they hunt and eat prey this close up shows the audience clearly how dangerous they can be and how they cling to the ground. Then at 1:25 the presenter says "remarkable cheetah pace" he then goes to play football with a cheetah and then counts the amount of strides taken from the cheetah to get the ball back 20 yards away.

A bad example of Accuracy is South Park  Natural History Episode because  the facts they are giving to the public are completely fake for example at 0:10 they say they are going to war with the Indians however for them India is a compactly a different planet to earth. Also At 0:1 they show a map of the different planets in the solar planet. one of the planets on the map was Asgard form the marvel comics and films Thor also they have a green lantern planet.

Balance Definition:  Balance means the balance between for and against arguments. This means that in the documentary of the factual tv show they have both arguments to prove there point and to continue to talk about the for and against of the show.
A bad example is  Fahrenheit 9 11 because the director is very one sided and dose not gave any against arguments to the points he was making for example at 18:20 he decided to talk about George Bush and try and blame the attack on him and how he hasn't made any meeting with the defence commit to get rid of terrorist

A good example is Frozen planet killer whales. this is a good example because its teaching the audience how killer whales hunt in packs and how they succeed. This is a balanced show because of the way the show and facts are presented by the presenter. when the presenter is presenting the facts in the background its in sync with the video of what he is saying so that you can provide a argument against real life footage.

Objectivity and subjectivity: Objectivity means it’s a proven to be a fact and subjectivity means it’s an opinion and cannot argue against a proven fact 

For a good example of balance is this 911 documentary gives for and against reasons for 911 happening but they also try to switch the blame for Muslims to a bystander that as in the Afghanistan. with 911 there are alot of myths but no one has every got to the bottom of it but they continue to blame Muslims and not having any proof of it this documentary is very one sided and he side they are trying to prorate is the innocent one but they give numbers of deaths that terrorist have killed but never give the amount of kills they had done

A bad example  is the hand of god part two. in this case there was mostly a fore argument because Ireland wanted a rematch but they didn't give the against arguments like what if Ireland had got the rematch but under preformed and the match was over within the first half and what if Ireland players got injured examples like that were not present and all they wanted to show was how France had cheated however Thierry Henry had told people he did the hand ball but it was the decision of the official

Impartiality: Impartiality means not favoring one side and has issues from both sides the good and the bad. This is showing both arguments and having evidence to prove the point that has been made.
A good example is loose women. This is a good example because there is a panel of experts and one main presenter that ask the questions to the panel and the women then have to have a discussion over the question it can be heated or it could be for fun but they have to provide there opinion

 A bad example of Impartiality is super size me because in this documentary they are just talking about how bad McDonald is bad for you but hey don't talk about other fast food restaurants that have alot of customers. Even though the documentary is about McDonald they could also give examples like burger king. Because Americas obistly level is high its all McDonald fault.

Opinion
The definition for a opinion TV show is where the presenter gives there own opinions as well as the guest on the show. In some shows as super nanny its completely different because she first gets a video then when says her opinion about the child that needs help. However this opinion was given before she gave help then after she helps the child she then gives her opinion again. Shows such as Sunday politics is a bad example for opinion because the presenter never gives his opinions hes just there to keep every one calm and not start a argument

For a good example of opinion factual TV Match of The Day because the presenter Gary Lineker is very involved in the for and against arguments and even says his own opinions to what had happened in the match. for 0:01 to 1:03 the presenter is presenting facts to the guest to analyse and to have there own say to the facts.However when they are look at the video clip one of the guest is analyzing what had go on in the clip. This then got the other two guest to give there opinion about the play that was made in the clip . At 4:08 again the presenter gives his opinion about the clip for the final statement and then moves on to the next question with the same style ask one then ask the other two. At 4:16 when they start giving another opinion a graphic come on the screen about the question.

A bad example for an opinion show is Question time. This is a bad example of bad opinions unlike match of the day the presenter was active in the discussion however in Question time the presenter picks who should answer the question and that's it. You could say that the presenter is only there for a public figure or keeping everyone calm in the production of the show. This happened all the times the presenter had asked the questions the first time was at 1:30. this would affect the audience because the audience would think that the presenter is there to ask question and help in the discussion but that's not the case because the type of people are very opinionated and want to get there point across to the people watching. When the first question was asked it was from a member of the audience this would show the audience that the audience is real one and not a fake one. However because the show is targeted to more middle aged adults they tend to have people asking questions in the age group of their target. (At 1:25)



Representation
Representation is where the director has a aim to show the characters for who they are. A good example of Representation is The Journey to Summer Slam. This is a good example because the director of the documentary wants to show them as athletes and nothing else. The start of the video by showing a athlete train at 0:01 then they refer to his training and ask him why he trains "ALL THE TIME" but in real life he dose not train all day everyday because it has a impact to his body. From 0:01 to 0:13 they have camera shots focusing on the main character ruining. At 0:22 there is a voice over of the character answering the question why he trains in the desert and they play the voice over of him training. At the end of the interview the character says 'all im going to do is fight' te type of tone he says it in makes it seem like that's all he ever does



A bad example of Representation is Catfish because they don't represent people as normal individuals they tried to some the women as a mystery and wanted to show them as normal people but with a secret. Right from the start they based the story on the main actor Nev and kept asking him questions about the relationship he was in and how he was the innocent one in the story from 0:05- 4:22 they went over a brief overview of the documentary and explaining what the goal was from here they began to talk about the female and represent her as the bad guy even thought she didn't mean to get this far. However at 2:00 the main actor Nev said he dose not wan it to be about him he wants it to be about abby you could say that they are portraying the girl in the worst way even though the male nev had his part in the story aswell


Bias
Bias is when there is only one side explained and they favour that one side to any others. This is a one sided argument that get the audience thinking about the topic and having effects of them A good example is Super size me. This is a good example of bias because the presenter only gives his opinions about how bad McDonald is for they boy but he never says any other fast food restaurants he automatic blames Americans oboist levels  on McDonald . At 0:10 when hes ordering food in the clip they does not show what he ordered they only showed if would like a large meal. This shows that he wants to show McDonald for its bad and unhealthy side and not any other side because he wants to blame McDonald for everything

A bad example of bias is Little big brother because they have a panel of expert to give there own opinion about what had happened in the show. Even though they have there own favoured to win they still stay good stuff about the others and how they act around others. For example at 15:58 they show a lip from the day and then they get a expert to talk about the clip and explain what they might have been feeling when making the comments and showing the audience how they act is the main purpose. this is a a bad example of bias because they don't take anyone side for them every one is the same and have the same rights

Access and Privacy
Access and Privacy is when the media access to use and mention in the documentary. The information that is given our to the public may not necessary been asked to be realised and would effect peoples privacy.

A good example of this is Inside North Korea. This is a good example of Access and Privacy because when making the documentary tourist are not aloud to film in the country with out the right documentation as that one of the rules were no filming in general. as you can see at 2:08 the camera was shacking because it was handheld. This was because they wanted to hide the camera because if they got noticed they would get in to alot of trouble. However when giving the information he did give the evidence of what they were saying so it was the truth and not lies.



A bad example of Access and privacy is crime watch. This is a bad example because its a reconstruction of a event that happened in the past. Sometimes They do get access to make the reconstruction and to inform people what had happened however they do keep the identity safe of the victim but not the criminal. This here breaches access and privacy rules because they don't ask the criminal if they want to be mentioned or on the show. However when the showed CCTV the privacy of the public on the bus was covered with a blurred images to protect there identity.

Contract with Viewer

Contract with Viewer is when the presenter presents information to the audience that is true. However the facts that are presented have to be accurate because they have to abide by the rules of Ofcom. They must also tell the audience the brief f the show and what it it’s based on for example a good example of this is 60 minutes make over. This is a bad example because they say at the start of the show that the person the makeover s for is out of the house for 1 hour so that a team can redecorate the house with a limited amount of time. At 20:40 they show the team however the team seems to look a lot less to what is shown in each room. This here goes against the rules of contract with the viewer because you can’t redecorate a house within a hour and they keep showing the team without everyone there to seem like it’s all scripted and happens over a number of hours or even days

A good example is inside nature’s giants the squid because the aim of the show is to show the audience and provide the audience with the truth of the squid and how they have adapted in the years and how some facts are wrong about the squid. At 11:59 they talk about the size of the squid and they also tell and show the audience how they squid breaths but they also prove evidence of this to support their argument this here is keeping to the contract with the viewer because they are telling the truth and correcting all the facts that was made in the past. However at 22:26 they also show short and small experiments about the squids to extend through knowledge about the squid.

Conventions of a news report

The four conventions needed to make a news report:

• Studio News Readers Or Anchors 
• Mode Of Address to Viewer
• Interviewing Experts and Witnesses 
• Report Structure 

Studio News Readers Or Anchors:

In this news convention Prinul and Farhana we talking about how the news anchor should act and look when they are live. in the voice overs Farhana would point out the mistake and Prinul would act on them. For the costume at 1:46 Prinul was wearing joggers and a jumpers as Farhana said they would have to dress formal. For framing the shot type was a long shot to show that in a normal report the shot type would be mid shot. In the video body language paid a big part to it because he would put his feet on the desk like he didn't care and he would come in eating

Mode Of Address to viewer




For mode of address the the tone of voice started from the get go the news anchor was tired as he would have to report the story that early in the night. When creating a news report  the camera person would not show the news report walk to his seat in this video that had happened alot. The accent was very understandable till it got the the language part of the video in this part they linked both accent and language together to make it stand out more so its easy to notice.During the whole video there was no eye contact but in a normal news report eye contact is key to maintain viewer interest

Report Structure




The report structure in a news report is very clear as they tell the audience what's coming up and have previews of links to the studio. In this video they showed the report structure very clearly and gave there own opinions about it. The first thing Taylor spoke about was what's coming up and he said that no one cares about it because no one watch the news they didn't show any previews aswell. When talking about the link to the studio she gave an example that comes up alot "technical difficulty" this happens when something actual when wrong or if the interview got out of hand. In a normal news report there would be use of graphics in this video there was none the same with images however the use of music in only in the intro and outro but they used a whitey type of music through out.

Interviewing experts and witnesses
Interviewing experts and witness use  camera technique, location, Status of interviewee, Graphics, Questioning techniques. in the video through out graphics was shown on the video to show what the show is called for advertising and when the presenter was in frame and when kaval was getting interviewed. Usually in a news report the people getting interviewed are experts or witnesses but in this case a drug dealer got interviewed so the criminal and kaval as the random person that didnt link to the story. When kaval was getting interviewed it said for the location interview at park but news reports do interviews in a park if they cant go anywhere else

News Report Conventions

In news reports the producers try to use six different conventions to set the reports out different from each other. The conventions used are:

• Field Reporters 
• Links to Studio
• Mode of Address to Viewer
• Interviewing Experts and Witnesses
• Report Structure
• Actuality Footage 

Theses six conventions are the main ones that news reports try to use when they cover a story. Each one of the conventions is set up to link together when it comes to the editing before it is then broadcast. 

This news report is a link to the studio from Sderot, Israel. One of the conventions used in this news report is Field Reports. A field report is when they embed a reporter at the heart of the situation. Throughout the whole news report/ interview the costume that was worn was a light blue shirt to show enemies that he is press and not a target as the reporter was in the heart of Israel action. The levels of involvement shown by the reporter was high because he gave his own opinions and backed them up by show a video at 0:46. The level of involvement was quite high as the reporter was from Israel and wanted to show pride in his country for retaliation. The choice of the presenter is n important task they want to relate to the situation and have their own views that won’t change depending on the change of situation. However the news reporter in Israel gender was male because you wouldn't associate a female with war or any type of fighting for their country. The ethnicity of the reporter is from Israel and is white. On the other hand the graphics at 0:06 are showing the different story's in the day with a moving to the left animation. Also at 0:06 sky news were advertising the different means to stay in touch with them when the reporter was on the field. Within this video you can also clearly see a link to the studio throughout the video. 

On the top right of the screen at 1:17 you can see they provide the audience with reinsurance that the news report is live and not pre-recorded. The location is the same as the graphic of "live" the location is also next to the "live" graphic at 1:18 say the location "Israel". Throughout the whole news report the camera stayed on mid shot on both reporters. The report structure in news report was quite a simple one because they would have the link to the studio and ask questions about the filed reporter’s opinions. Right from the start of the production the news reporter in the studio introduced himself and introduced the field reporter so they could get straight to the point at 0:02. During the news report there wasn't any archive footage shown to prove any of the reporter’s points; there were no interviews form any vox pops to prove the points that the field reporter has made. At 0:03 the news reporter in the studio introduces the location of the field reporter and himself. However During the news report there was actuality footage near the end of the report. At 2:22 however they don't say who it was from in the graphics or even thanking the person. The reason they used the footage was to prove the point that the studio reporter had made so they are providing evidence for their claim. Not a lot was used only from 2:22 till 2:30 8 seconds long.

This This news report is linked to the mode of address to the viewer. Also it is linked to Interviewing experts and witnesses and even victims. The first conversion I would be addressing is mode of address to the viewer and how they communicate with those watching from home. The first is the victim that is being interviewed his tone of voice varied from low to high when he really wanted to get his point across as if he was getting angry at 0:46. For the accent the interview was taken place in the Russian language and therefore they needed a translator to translate for the views at home. The language used was vocabulary that you would use in a everyday life style without any complex terminology. The final conversion I will be looking at is interviewing experts and witness. The camera techniques used in the news report were mid shots and close up's to show his emotions. At 0:40 the title that was given to the victim is TV HOST going back to his past. As Litvinenko was a expert in military defence he did some times reply in a manner where he would refer to his past and that was the reason he was blamed. 

Analysis of factual programming codes and conventions Part 1

Docu Drama-

A docudrama is a genre of a radio or television programming. A docudrama is based on real events that has happened in the past you could also say its actors doing an re enactment of a certain event

The Queen is a good example of a docudrama because the directors take the real Queen of England life and re enact the past from  her being crowned as Queen of England to her seeing her grand children born. Also some docudrama's have actors that may look like the person they are trying to portray to the audience with or with out make up.In this case the women playing as the queen looks like the current Queen when he was younger with the make up.


The Road To Guantanamo Bay is a very good example of a docudrama because they have taken a real like accident and shown it from a different point of view. From 0:18 to 0:21 the editing of the clips were very disjointed because the USA President was talking at a correspondence about take out the threat but then they would show the old prime-minster of of united kingdom just looking in to the camera. It just did not make sense because after that they would cut to a boy brushing his teeth to a voice over how his parents have found a bride for him. At 1:35 the music played in the back ground made it seemed like something else was going to happen that would change his life. This music would make the scene dramatic but then he met up with his father. At 3:30 graphics was shown on the screen to show the audience how out dated the story is to prove the innocence of the men. At 5:56 they had taken a discussion about going to Afghanistan to talk about how big "naan bread" is. By the directors doing  this adds in comedy scene in to a serious story to keep the audience entertained and keep then watching till the end. At 9:20 there is  archive footage with a voice over of a news report about the situation explaining what was going on at the time to guide the audience through the video clip so they can understand the story more.

Another good example of a docudrama is Dreams of a better life. This documentary was about a women who had died in her house and was left there for three years. This here is another re enactment style of documentary because they want to show to the audience that she was a living person before with out any friends so they wanted the audience to feel sorry for her

Docu Soap
A docu soap is a television series based on real people going through real things that would help or change life's. This is filmed in a drama or a soap.

Dealer Ship is a docu soap because its about real people at work trying to sell cars to customer that want to buy a car. The show also consist on interviews and real expressions from the customers

999 Whats your emergency is another good example of a docu soap because its about real people in the ambulance and police force and how they respond to calls about people on a night out

Hotel India is a docu soap because it include interviews with real people and its about a real place in India and they want to show how people have to work around there and how they benefit fro working in a high class hotel. At 0:12 there is a montage with a narrative voice over as a introduction to the show and give you the line up of what the convictions of the show. At 0:30 there is a interview of a women explaining why she likes the hotel describing the room that she is currently in to make the interview flow smoothly. at 4:09 when the lady is being interviewed the imagery changes so the rest on the answer would be a voice over. At 5:28 they give the man graphics to show the audience who he is but they also give him a title to show people he is a important person. During the first 10 minuets there is a lot of voice overs to show the outside of the hotel and show how clean it is but there is also a narrative voice over to give facts to the audience


Reality
Reality TV is a genre where people are filmed on how they live how there daily life is and what drama is involved. Reality TV shows are mostly unscripted because they just let it flow and edit it all together.

A good example of reality TV is Total Divas on E!. This show is based on performers from the WWE organisation. The main aim of the show is to have some entertainment in the performers caress showing people that they have normal life's outside of the WWE where they meet friends and talk about whats been going on so in other words they gossip


Another good example is Hell's Kitchen This show is more about a chef trying to find there apprentice by giving them a rough time cooking fro people and they also show the reactions to what the chef says about them.

Jersey Shore is a good example of a reality show because it is based on five or six people living in a house together working together and partying together. During the filming of the show there is also interviews taken place about there feeling towards each other and generally what's been going on in the house at 0:33. At 0:01 there is a complication of clips for an intro with graphics of the title of show this made the show seem more professional than it already is. At 0:5 they add a scene that would make people laugh or smile barbecue of how there relationship is as friends. At 1:35 they show another montage but of the surroundings of the house and what they would see everyday to make it seem like your there as well.
WildLife:
Wildlife TV shows are shows about animals and how they live in the natural or how they live in captivity but its also a type of show were you can use CGI to re-create animals like dinosaurs and inform people about them.

Walking with Dinosaurs is a good example of CGI wildlife show because they use animations to create a dinosaurs and based on facts they would show how they hunt and how they behave

Another example is Animal Planet some episodes are filmed in the habitat of animal but some are created with CGI with habitats that they could not film in because it was to dangerous or they could to go there in time for the recording

Inside natures giants is a very good example because they don't use any animations of a animal that they were dissection the only time they would use a animation is explain part of the atoms of the giant. Most of the footage is real and reliable and able to give the audience facts to help the more of a understanding. At 0:02 there is a short montage of where white sharks live swim and eat then at 0:10 graphics come up introducing the presenter and giving him a title of scientist. At 0:15 there is archive footage of a shark swimming. They used archive footage of this because it would be to dangerous for them to film. 3:41 there is an animation of the bone structure of the shark to show the decadence as they wont see it clearly in the episode. At 7:30 there is a narrative of the presenter explaining the facts for ease of understand.


Educational
Educational TV is when they are explaining topics to an audience like the examples below. However it is a form of television hat informs people about certain life styles and how people behave

Myth Busters is a good example of educational TV because they are practically teaching people how to get rid of ghost ad he teach people about the house that the ghost lives is also they each people about myth and support what they say with evidence

Another example of educational TV is Educating Essex however this form of educational TV is informing people about others life style nd how they teach them to become better people. This s a educational TV show because its teaching people how to behave and how to speak to people when your out



Horrible History's is a good example of educational TV because they are teaching children about the past and informing them with facts that wont overwhelm them that they can use them self in school. At 0:02 there is a montage to how the viewers what is coming on today's show the pace of the  montage is fast to keep the viewer entertained as its for children it seems like they are trying to say we don't want you to get board. At 0:35 there is a animation to grab the viewers intention. At 0:49 the actor introduces him self ad starts to give the viewer his opinion about the time in the past. At 2:08 there is a animation of how the Saxon's got there name and where the came from. At 2:25 there is a graphic to show where they are in time and where there location is. At 4:36 they use animations to change the topic as they do not want to stay on one for long so they do not loose viewers.

Infotainment

Infotainment TV is being able to provide information but in an entertaining way to gain and have viewers watching your show

Come Dine With Me is a good example because they are showing the large amount of viewers how to cook a certain dish but with  entertain aspect to it for example they get everything right but they still burn what they were cooking

Gordon Ramsey cook along is a very good example because it come on once a year at Christmas time and there is a information aspect towards it but there is also a entertainment value to it as it is on air for more than three hours. At 0:02 there is a montage of images put together to make a introduction with the main presenter in the background do the same action from the start. At 0:19 he says "let the pan get hot" then he followed up by giving a fact and reason to why you do this. during the video most of the shots are close ups of the chef because he wants to make you feel as if hes giving you eye contact so you have to listen. At 0:39 there are alot of close ups of the pan as he wants you to follow what e does with out any mistakes.
